Life with a new smile!

So I'm finally finished with my clear aligners journey. One year later and I have a completely different smile and I still can't get over how much my teeth have changed. I'm so thankful for Dr. Morgan and all of his excellent staff that helped me through the entire process. It was SUCH a fun day at the office getting my last tray done and the buttons removed. Its pretty exciting when the whole office is invested in your journey and just as excited as you are to see the finished product. Check out an awesome video of my transformation at the bottom of this post! Here's my pre-aligner smile. I didn't think I had a particularly bad smile before my aligners, now I'm amazed at how bad they were. Here's how they look now!! Here's a really great video of my smile transformation. Thank you Aesthetic & Implant Dentistry for doing such a fantastic job on my smile. 😁

Fitting My Aligners

Today was my appointment to fit my aligners with  Dr. Morgan . I was pretty clueless of the steps involved for clear aligners, so here's how it works. Before he can just pop in the trays, they had to clean off my teeth and apply 'buttons' to ten of my teeth. These 'buttons' are glued onto my teeth in the exact spot of the void left on the aligner so that they will snap into place, literally. Unlike other clear aligners, SureSmile uses buttons to foster rapid tooth movement. Then we had to create a little space in between my teeth. Another area I hadn't considered in moving your teeth is there has to be space to move them. My top teeth are especially tight together and almost overlapping. Not my favorite part of the process, but necessary none the less. Dr. Morgan very gently filed down a paper thin gap in between my top teeth. Then we were able to fit the trays into my mouth and make sure everything was adjusted and felt right. It was a little mo

First Visit

Today I had my first visit with Dr. Morgan . I was so excited to get this process rolling. Before we could discuss anything they needed an 'impression' of my mouth. Except this was the best impression ever because we didn't have to use the nasty slimy goo mold. They used a camera, that looked like a giant toothbrush handle, that they stuck in my mouth and took a 3D image which was then sent to the computer and turned into a replica of my teeth. It was amazing and so easy! They'll be sending those scans off to their lab where they'll be analyzed to see if my mouth is a good candidate for aligners or not. Sometimes a patient will need a little more orthodontic help if the teeth as severe. I'm just praying that my crooked teeth will make the cut! Stayed tuned to find out!

Clear Aligners!

It's been a while since I've posted on here, but I am so excited to bring you along for this exciting new adventure!  If you know me at all, you know that my teeth are pretty crooked. (Blame it on my English roots) They always have been, and I watched as my high school friends upgraded their smiles with shiny new braces. But I never wanted train tracks. If that was the option, I was resigned to the state of my smile. Then came Invisalign. A revolutionary idea to use clear plastic to align the teeth. No doubt you've seen, or heard, or even been blessed with them yourself. Dr. Morgan uses the same technology but a different product called SureSmile . Since I've been taking patient photos for  Aesthetic & Implant Dentistry  for a little over a year I've been blown away by the smiles in that office. I didn't think twice about my teeth until I started photographing their gorgeous patients. The friendliness of the staff just makes all their smiles th
